three-hour workdays

Half-hour to prepare and check what’s on the to-do list, three hours of solid work, and a half hour to decompress. That makes half of your day, so you can spend the rest doing other things you love to do. For us, that’s how much life we should dedicate to work.

a decent compensation

We pay per item, and we design each item so that it’s elegant, healthy and practical, but also easy to make. How much you make depends on how good you are, but we aim at an average of 40 Euro per hour, 120 Euro per session. That’s our magic.

take a test

Start by taking a test at our centre in Brussels. That helps us to understand where you can be more productive, and if you need to join a learning pathway.

join a crew

You join a crew based on your skill, to help them clear their daily log of items. Each crew has a master maker, who will help you deliver in time and with good quality.

make

You work, while we make sure that the time you spend is neither boring nor uncomfortable. We sing, we tell stories, we discuss about the sad world out there.

cash

At the end of the session, what you made is checked and, if the level of quality is met, you are paid. That’s as easy as it gets. Now you’re free to do anything you want.

Frequent questions

No, you can start making clothes even if you haven’t been working on it professionally. However, you will have to demonstrate a basic level of agility by completing some quick exercises.

The hourly compensation depends on the amount of items you are able to produce. The better you are at sewing, the more you earn. We have a table with the compensation per item on location.

No, each maker can only work for a one three-hour session. It’s a principle we set to ensure that nobody gets stuck into making. Of course you can use the extra time to do whatever you like, including making clothes using available machines. However, you will only be working on your own personal, professional, artistic or research projects.

If the machines are free, you can use them but you must leave them immediately if a crew needs them.

To keep the items you make you need to cover their cost (material, energy, rental of the space, etc.) using money or time. If you want to use money, you buy them at the makers’ price, which is basically its cost including your compensation. If you want to use time, you will have a table specifying what and how many items you have to produce to keep the item you want.

Your items are for you do do what you want with them. You can give them as a gift to your loved ones, or sell them, or turn them into compost and feed a plant. They’re your items, after all.

You can, if they sell them to you. Once a maker delivers her/his items to wear | us, we only sell them at discount or retail prices, never at makers’ prices.

You are not only free but encouraged to open an alternative centre with friends and neighbours. You can do it on your own, or you can ask for help, we’ll be more than happy to support you. Yes, also (and especially) if you have already been part of one of our crews and you have your own reason to create your own spin-off.
